Description

The Extended Opportunity Program and Services (EOPS) Program was legislatively mandated in 1969 with the passage of SB 164 (Alquist). This “social reform”legislation encouraged the California Community Colleges to develop programs and services designed to meet the educational needs of [all] students handicapped by “language, social and economic disadvantages,” these programs and services to be “over, above, and in addition to those regularly offered at the college,” and which “encourage student growth, development, and successful participation” in collegiate life.

The Training Place was established to deliver affordable employee training to businesses of all sizes in areas including: Health, International Trade, Human Resources, Leadership, Customer Service, Employee Development, Manufacturing, Sales, Safety, Sexual Harassment Prevention, and Business Technology. Workshops are designed to provide performance improvement solutions which will assist the community in economic development, sustainability, and growth.

Careful course selection prior to registration is the key to a successful college experience. While it is ultimately a student's responsibility to obtain and follow academic requirements and application deadlines, Butte College counselors can help students keep up to date with the complex array of these requirements and applications.
