In 1928 Lewis Lehmer opened the Golden West Service Station at the corner of Galindo Street and Cowell Road in Concord, California. With the help of his son Erv Lehmer, they soon expanded into selling used cars. In 1936, at age 23, Erv became Contra Costa County's first Oldsmobile dealer. The GMC Franchise was added in 1938, and in 1951 the dealership moved to a new facility in Downtown Concord. In 2001, Lehmer's acquired the Pontiac franchise. And in January 2006, Lehmer's moved to a brand new, state of the art facility on Concord's Auto Row. Erv Lehmer's daughter, Carolyn Anderson is the dealer, and Erv's grandchildren are actively involved in managing the dealership. Since Erv Lehmer's passing in 2004, Lehmer's has committed to honor a legacy that began well over 75 years ago.
