Description

Working in Unit 4 offers the opportunity to grow as an employee, as a person, and as an advocate for children. We are looking for staff members who don't just go to work every day, but who are on a mission to help every child reach his or her full potential.

Using a three-tier model of school supports that utilizes increasingly more intense instruction and interventions. Tier I consists of the core curriculum, which is designed for all students in the general education curriculum and consists of scientific, research-based instructional and behavioral methodologies, practices, and supports. Differentiation of curriculum and instruction occurs by the classroom teacher at Tier I.

Jefferson students are encouraged to take advantage of the additional support offered to students during the day after school. Many teachers will invite students to join them for lunch periodically to retake a test or make up some missing work. Each team holds a Team Study time weekly to provide ongoing support for homework or re-teaching previously introduced content. Homework Academy is offered periodically to provide a two hour block for time for students to complete missing assignments and improve their overall achievement.

High-speed internet access is currently available in each class room. Three computer labs provide a hands-on environment for students to learn to create rich documents, multimedia presentations, research, and basic websites. Students are encouraged to work with technology in small groups, problem solve, present, and participate in peer review of projects. Each student has a unique log-on that allows a profile to travel with them on any PC in the building. A technology instructor is dedicated to supporting students, teachers, and technology as Jefferson integrates technology in the classroom.
