Description

Dan Chase is a web developer currently working for a state university with dreams of being set free to pursue his dream of an independent life in the snowy mountains working at his passion, at his own pace, in his own direction. He has been involved in the information technology industry for over 25 years in one manner or another. Having done everything from sales to component-level repair of computers, he has diverse experience in the current world of networks, computers and related software. Having served as the first full-time webmaster for a state university for six years, he moved into systems administration for about a year at the request of the IT department at the university, and has since moved into a web systems analyst (programming) position. Originally as webmaster, he served all of these functions, as the university only had a position for one person. Now that a new position has been created, both the new webmaster, and Dan can focus more on dedicated areas to hopefully do each better. Dan's preferred platform for web servers is Linux, in particular, Red Hat Enterprise Linux or CentOS. He uses both windows & Linux for his desktop as the need arises. Also experienced on Macintosh, having formerly worked for the help desk at the university, he occasionally gets to play with those too.
