Since 1977, we have served architects, engineers, developers, and contractors on their commercial, industrial, and residential projects. Conceived as a computerized energy company, we serve Los Angeles and the outlying areas. Our innovative approaches have enabled us to expand into a complete consulting engineering firm. Out staff has been chosen for their solid background of experience and fresh imaginative ideas. Our staff members hold engineering licenses in several states. In 1991, the consulting engineering firm of Kelly-Stewart-Goldstein became a division of California Energy Designs. This firm was originally formed in 1944 and specializes in large governmental and utility company projects. As active members of ASHRAE, NSPE and MEAC California Energy Designs is constantly updating its highest quality standards to meet or exceed all applicable standards and codes. We try to utilize standard design on all buildings, thus minimizing engineering time and overall cost to our customers. However, when specialized plans are called for, California Energy Designs makes use of their engineers' experience and expertise in alternate energy designs for custom-tailored buildings. California Energy Designs organization facilitates rapid handling of all engineering projects. From the receipt of the order through completion of installation, each job is program-planned to eliminate delay. Our exclusive activity in HVAC, plumbing design, and energy evaluation, gives us an appreciative understanding of each customers problems. In summary, California Energy Designs produces fast, accurate quality designs and calculations for HVAC and plumbing systems through a streamlined organization using engineering originality. In January 2010 - Richard L. Gibert was given Lifetime Achievement Award from ASHRAE Mr. Richard L. Gibert has been involved with our HVAC industry for more than 50 years and has been part of major Los Angeles area development with more than 10,000 projects as engineer-of-records. Presently, he is the CEO of California Energy Designs. Dick was born on April 15, 1939 in Los Angeles, at St. Vincent's Hospital at 3rd and Alvarado, an only child. In 1945 the family moved from Los Angeles to La Crescenta where he spent the next 14 years. He was very good at mechanical things and had a 1949 Ford as his first car, which he customized. At Glendale High School, and Glendale College he was on the track team and lettered each year in high jump and pole vault. His summer jobs included messenger boy for the Los Angeles Stock Exchange, blue print machine operator, drill press operator, and bus mechanic. Also, Dick and his 2 best high school buddies John Sundahl and Ted Sirken started a fraternity called the Marquis, which is still in existence, 56 years later. At age 20, he married his high school sweetheart, had a daughter the next year, and moved to San Luis Obispo, CA, where he received his bachelors degree in "Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Engineering" with honors. He worked his way thru school by working as a bus driver/tour guide at the Hearst Castle at San Simeon, CA. He managed the Laundromat in Cayucos for free rent.
