As a student-centered, four-year, public university known for its interdisciplinary, multicultural, and international perspectives, California State University Channel Islands has quickly become a destination university for students from throughout the state. The University opened its doors in August 2002, as the newest and 23 rd member of the CSU system. The campus is located in a picturesque setting in Camarillo, California, between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, and just five miles from the Pacific Ocean.CSUCI has developed educational programs that are innovative, enriching, and relevant to today's students, preparing them for the highest standards of professionalism. Students are challenged to think more deeply, to approach critical issues of the day, and to make a difference in society as a whole.In creating meaningful programs, the University invites students as well as members of the community as partners. Many courses and programs incorporate outreach to local schools, hospitals, and volunteer organizations, which provide valuable connections and access to the professional communities in the region.
