Canyon Explorations/Expeditions (CanX) is a small family business founded in 1987 by Edie Crawford and her children, Garrett and Laurie Lee. Garrett, Laurie Lee, and her husband, Cameron, are hands-on managers covering all bases from guiding to reservations. As guides, Garrett and Cameron bring five decades of experience on the Colorado River. We work together as a family to realize our shared vision of extended wilderness trips focused on education, participation, and adventure. We are dedicated to minimizing our environmental footprint in the word at large and are proud of the programs we've implemented to minimize our larger environmental footprint. Our Flagstaff facility operates on a 15 kilowatt solar installation, and bio-diesel is used in company vehicles. Our menu features organic/natural foods; we buy from local vendors; environmentally friendly (including recycled-content supplies) products are used both on-river and in our office/warehouse. Our role as stewards of the Canyon's majesty and its fragile river environment is of vital importance. We have developed resource protection practices specifically to minimize river running impacts to the Canyon's fragile and precious river environment—from Leave No Trace (LNT) principles to recycling and composting. Canyon Explorations and Canyon Expeditions are licensed concessioners of the National Park Service.
