James W. Atkinson is a graduate of Sanford Central High School in Sanford, North Carolina and attended the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill on a baseball scholarship. His team finished third in the College World Series in 1978, and he was voted Baseball Player of the Year in the ACC in 1979. In 1979, Mr. Atkinson was drafted by the Kansas City Royals and played in their minor league organization until 1983. In 1983, he went to work for Imperial Spinning Mills, a yarn manufacturing company based in Sanford, North Carolina, as a new accounts representative for Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia and Alabama. In 1987, he worked for North Carolina National Bank in Charlotte in the funds management department in the area of bonds sales, servicing community banks through the southeastern United States. While employed at NCNB, he earned his Series 7 brokerage license. In 1989, he and other partners formed Pioneer Yarn Mills where he handled sales in Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, Alabama and Canada, continuing to work for Pioneer until its sale to Unifi, Inc., a textile company based in Greensboro, North Carolina in 1993.

Mr. Holley is Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of CapitalMark Bank & Trust. Mr. Holley earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Economics at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama in 1979, and is a 1987 graduate of the School of Banking of the South at Louisiana State University. In 1998, he successfully completed Georgia State University’s Management Development Program at the Center for Executive Education in Atlanta, Georgia; and is a 2002 graduate of the Center of Creative Leadership in Greensboro, North Carolina. Prior to founding CapitalMark, Mr. Holley worked for over 25 years with AmSouth Bank, serving as regional president for the bank’s southeast Tennessee/North Georgia area before departing in 2005. He currently serves on the board of directors for the Hunter Museum of American Art, Siskin Children’s Institute, and the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Holley is a past member of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga College of Business Advisory Board and of the Chancellor’s Roundtable.
