Description
The Boylermaker is a Silverhawk 24’ powered by twin 140 four stroke Johnson outboard engines. It is perfectly designed and outfitted for fly fishing and runs comfortably in both the chop of Vineyard and Nantucket Sounds as well as the open ocean swells found south of the Vineyard. The Silverhawk’s smooth ride is a result of a variable deadrise hull that's based on the famous 23’ Seacraft. A moderate and flaring beam deflects wind spray so that the passengers remain dry while traveling in comfort. The boat is clean, snag-free and very fly fishing friendly. It has plenty of dry storage for all your gear. It's equipped with the latest color electronics by Raymarine including GPS, fish finder, radar and Sirius weather. The boat carries all the required Coast Guard safety gear, plus an EPIRB and a life raft for offshore trips. I've also gone back to my roots in '08 by adding a 16' Hewes Bonefisher to the stable. Sight-fishing on shallow sandy flats is the name of the game in the new skiff on sunny days - you haven't experienced true excitement until you've thrown a crab fly at a forty-plus inch striper! The smaller boat lets us sneak into spots that I haven't been able to fish with the big boat for several years. Despite its small size, this gorgeous lapstrake skiff rides remarkably well and is a lot drier than you might expect. It's perfect for parties of two people or less and a savior on windy days as we can hide from the chop in the island's many salt ponds. Bring your polarized vision an eight-weight and a box of crabs!
