The AHA ’s latest guidelines were published in its scientific journal, Circulation, in April 2007 and there is good news: the AHA recommends that most of these patients no longer need short-term antibiotics as a preventive measure before their dental treatment. NOTE: Only a physician or dentist can make the decision to no longer require the premedication and people who have a compromised immune system and heart or joint issues will most likely STILL require premedication. In addition, there are NO recommended changes in the indication for patients with a total joint replacement. At HomeCare Dental, we can write an order for the needed medication or conveniently dispense the appropriate antibiotic from medication that we bring along to every appointment BLEACHING The desire for a brighter smile with whiter teeth is very strong, and tooth bleaching safely lightens the color of the teeth, lasting for up to five years. The most effective and safest method of tooth bleaching is dentist-supervised. We can take impressions for lab fabricated custom trays or, using our specialized portable operatory, safely apply chairside quick bleach with office level suction and air-water rinsing. BRIDGE If you're missing one or more teeth, you may notice a difference in chewing and speaking. There are options to help restore your smile. Bridges help maintain the shape of your face, as well as alleviating the stress in your bite by replacing missing teeth. Sometimes called a fixed partial denture, a bridge replaces missing teeth with artificial teeth, looks great, and literally bridges the gap where one or more teeth may have been. They are permanently cemented and cannot be misplaced like dentures. With our portable operatory we prepare the teeth using the same high quality handpieces (drill), suction, and air-water spray as that found in a traditional fixed office. Impressions are taken and safely transported to a lab specializing in fabricating this type of restoration.
