If your lab protocols do not include Cascade BioScience Monoclonal Anti-Human PTEN (clone 6H2.1), you may experience non-specific IHC and high-background western blots.6H2.1 has been the gold standard since 1999 and is the most specific PTEN antibody available to the research community today. This valuable tool has been cited in dozens of publications and used in multiple applications. Pallares et al., (2005) report "6H2.1 was the only one that exhibited a correlation with the presence of molecular alterations in PTEN, and a statistically significant association with immunostaining for phosphorylated AKT. The [other commercial antibodies evaluated] produced positive staining in PTEN-deficient cell line blocks, suggesting nonspecific staining.
