The Camp Roosevelt CCC Legacy Foundation, established in 2001, is a non-profit heritage membership organization whose purpose is to bring attention to the history of the greatest natural resource conservation effort ever recorded. Some federal and state agencies have interpretive displays which address the work of the CCC on their land, however, there is a large segment of this story that never gets mentioned. In addition to the many natural resource treasures that still exist today such as National Forests, National Parks, and State conservation and recreational entities there is a vast history to be explored. Some of these include: political and economic recovery after the depression, development of the tenants of modern conservation, building the infrastructure of National Parks, National Forests, state parks, fish hatcheries, and the cultivating and planting of nearly 3 billion trees on public and private ground...
