Description
Navajo Nation Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Department What is the Indian Community Development Block Grant (ICDBG) Program? The Navajo CDBG Program provides Chapters with eligible organizations with grants for use in developing viable Communities, including decent housing, a suitable living environment, and economic opportunities, primarily for low and moderate income persons. Program administration The program is administered by the Navajo CDBG office with policy development and oversight provided by the TCDC committee. The Navajo CDBG office is responsible to the Region IX office, Southwest Office of Native American Programs (SONAP). The program regulations provide for two categories of grants, Imminent Threat and Single purpose. Single purpose grants are awarded on a competition basis pursuant to the terms published in an annual Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA). Funds are allocated annually on a competitive basis, on a project by project basis. The Navajo Nation may apply for $5.5 million annually for funding.
