Description
Stanwood Economic Development Company (STEDCO): STEDCO was established in 1995 to assist with the development of the City of Stanwood. In 1996, STEDCO purchased 43 acres to develop the development of the Tenley Industrial Park located on the east edge of the city. Currently, businesses in the park are River Valley COOP, North Cedar Recycling, and New Horizons Farm Service and E&N Specialties. Also in 1996, STEDCO purchased four-acres located on Kohlhase Street that was developed into three condominiums and a single-family house.
ECIA Business Growth, Inc. : ECIA’s revolving loan funds are targeted primarily to manufacturers for the purchase of equipment. The objective of the RLFs is to provide private sector job creation and capital formation for expansion or start-up projects. Features include below market interest rates, filling financial gaps, and leveraging private sector funds.
Mechanicsville Economic Development Company: The Mechanicsville Economic Development Company established over 50 years ago to support the development of City of Mechanicsville. Over the course of their inception, they have purchased land for a new North Cedar elementary facility with the assistance of a small grant by CCEDCO. Currently, the group is working on the five-acre multiplex sports complex to improve the quality of life for the citizens of the County and Mechanicsville residents.
Mechanicsville is on the outer edge of Cedar County. With Highway 30 running along the outskirts of town, and the Union Pacific Railroad parallel to the highway it provides good economic dynamics. Not to mention Mechanicsville is close in proximity to Cedar Rapids, just 25 miles away and Iowa City is 30 miles away. The Eastern Iowa Airport is just a short 25 mile commute with many non-stop destinations in the United States available. This city offers a small town feel but close to large city living.
