Description

Presbyterian Homes and Services of Kentucky grew from a gift made by one woman to provide for other women. In 1891, a bequest was made by an affluent widow, Rose Anna Hughes, to provide care and shelter for widows who had no resources to provide for themselves. The money was entrusted to the Presbyterian Church until sufficient funds accrued to open Rose Anna Hughes Presbyterian Home in downtown Louisville in 1947. That gift, and the desire it represented began this ministry.

For over 60 years, Presbyterian Homes and Services of Kentucky has been committed to encouraging professional development for its employees. Expanding through the state, we have provided a supportive and challenging workplace to create opportunity for reward and satisfaction. We believe in encouraging our residents to live to their fullest potential. In order to respect each resident’s individuality we practice resident centered care on each of our campuses. With our focus on resident centered care we provide the appropriate level of care based on the needs of the individual.

Occupational therapy services are offered to promote or maintain the skills necessary to live with the highest quality of life and independence as possible. Working with residents, family and team members, occupational therapists develop the residents' ability to compensate and adapt skills to safely enhance function and quality of life.

Situated in the mountains of eastern Kentucky, we provide green vistas out each resident's window. Good Shepherd offers a faith-based home with resident centered individualized, compassionate care at three levels of nursing care: personal, intermediate and skilled.
