The Center for Work-Life Policy was formed initially to house the policy projects of the National Parenting Association - a non-profit organization that, in recent years, had become increasingly focused on workplace issues. In 2004, we officially changed our name to the Center for Work-Life Policy. Chaired by Sylvia Ann Hewlett, a well-known author and economist, the Center is currently engaged in two major projects that explore and address work-life challenges from the perspective of private sector organizations and the individual. We have a long history of working on issues of parenting and the workplace. Our journey to becoming the Center for Work-Life policy has been a logical one. As the National Parenting Association (which was founded in 1993) we worked for more than 10 years to understand the needs of parents and bring their voices into the public arena. Our aim then, as it is now, was to encourage a society that values parenting, benefits children and strengthens America. From conducting research to testifying before State legislatures to meetings at the White House, the NPA investigated the needs of parents and advocated for ways to help parents help their kids.
