I have been playing bass for over 30 years and I own 2 Fender Jazz basses already a Geddy Lee made in Japan and a Jaco Tribute Fretless made in Fullerton. This is the perfect addition to my collection and easily matches the quality of my other Jazzes. You are a man of your word the bass arrived in perfect condition, flawless build, beautiful hardware and I love the matching painted head! The varitone option is great... being able to dial in such a wide variety of tone right on the bass is awesome! Pups sound bright and the resonance from the instrument before it is even plugged in is huge! Fantastic setup.... as you can tell I'm thrilled!! Everything you advertise is 100% true - fit, finish, quality, service, shipping.... all of it. I wish you all the best in your endeavors you are true craftsman and I can't thank you enough for my beautiful bass it is worth at least twice what I paid for it and I can hardly wait to build another with you in the future.

I have been a professional bassist for over 36 years, and I built my first bass when I was 15. In building a bass I do some things others don't do: I use a clamp to set the neck tight against the body before I put in the screws. This gets the neck tighter to the body than what the screws can acheive by themselves, but the screws can hold that pressure once they're in. I also mount the bridge a little closer to the neck so the saddle screws don't have to be nearly all the way out, which enables correct intonation adjustment like on vintage Fenders. I set the intonation precisely. I drill all holes a little smaller than others do so the screws fit tighter, especially the bridge and neck screw holes. I don't like screws to go in without a little bit of a fight; this results in more sustain and a more solid feel for the overall bass. My tight neck mounting and bridge placement and other build techniques increase sustain and give a more solid feel. When you first get your bass, you'll tune it up, play it without plugging it in and you will feel and hear lots of natural tone resonance. You'll know what I'm talking about.

A bassist for over 40 years, David Certain studied with Kenny Davis of the Oberlin Conservatory. He's toured and recorded with legendary, Grammy-nominated drummer and "The Mayor of Harlem" Greg Bandy in his band, The Unsung Heroes, on and off for decades. David has performed with Miles Davis alumnus and Downbeat Readers' Poll winner, saxophonist Gary Bartz, free jazz pioneer and pianist Bobby Few, organ master Jimmy McGriff, saxophonist and Grammy-winning arranger Willie Smith, singer "Little" Jimmy Scott, Latin jazz pianist Hilton Ruiz, drummer Ike Wiley (formerly with Stanley Clarke), Vincent Herring, Eddie Henderson and many others. David currently resides in St. Louis performing with vocalist Charles Glenn , the Eddie Henderson Quartet and guitar legend Marvin Horne. David is music director for The Oliver Sain Revue and performs locally with Billy Barnett , Blind Willie Deneen , and is first call substitute for several prominent bassists.

I'm not a sixteen year old kid who just started jammin' last week in the garage (although one of these basses would be a great choice for any level bassist). I'm a session musician in Nashville who has worked with too many to mention.
