Description
Current Events Counter-Strike 1.6 Seasonal Event Since CEVO began operating in early 2005, Counter-Strike (v. 1.6) has been our core and most popular hosted game. With over 2,500 participants every season, and growing, this event features the widest array of divisions and value-added features. In Season 3 alone, registrants competed for a total of over $28,500 in cash prizes and the pride of being a CEVO Champion. Counter-Strike (v. 1.6) is originally a game modification for Valve's highly successful game - Half-Life. Created by Minh "Gooseman" Lee and Jesse Cliffe, Counter-Strike features urban and rural combat between factions of Terrorists and Counter-Terrorists. The most popular mode of play is the one hosted by CEVO, team-based (5 on 5) bomb detonation. Terrorists make their attempt to destroy one of two target-areas on a map (location) using a bomb carried in a backpack; Meanwhile, it is the Counter-Terrorists' duty to eliminate the attacking Terrorist force and/or defuse their bomb before it explodes. Counter-Strike is an action packed and masterfully strategic game, its no wonder it has risen to among the most popular shooter games of all time. Counter-Strike: Source Seasonal Event Counter-Strike: Source was introduced as CEVO's second hosted game and shows every sign of remaining a popular addition for years to come. Counter-Strike: Source is a transfer (and tweaking) of the original Counter-Strike (v. 1.6) to Valve's Half-Life 2 Engine. Source has enabled the addition of new advanced graphics and technologies (such as ragdoll physics), to the classic Counter-Strike. The same as its predecessor, Counter-Strike Source is a team-based bomb detonation game. Call of Duty Seasonal Event In January 2006, CEVO announced expansion to Call of Duty, Infinity Ward's sequel to the original Call of Duty. Similar to CEVO's earlier hosted-games, Call of Duty features team-based urban and rural combat and bomb detonation. Call of Duty however takes realism to the next level, featuring armies (Germany, Britain and USA) and weapons based on World War II. Call of Duty is a yet another great strategic action game and has been an excellent addition to CEVO's line of hosted games. Team Fortress 2 Seasonal Event Team Fortress 2 is the sequel to the game that put class-based, multiplayer team warfare on the map. This year.s most anticipated online action game, TF2 delivers new gametypes, a signature art style powered by Valve's next generation animation technology, persistent player statistics, and more. America's Army Seasonal Event America's Army (also known as AA or Army Game Project) is a video game owned by the United States Government and released as a global public relations initiative to help with U.S. Army recruitment. The PC version 1.0, subtitled Recon, was first released on July 4, 2002. Since then, there have been over 20 updated versions released, the most recent being AA:SF (Overmatch) v2.8.3.1. All versions use the Unreal Engine. The game is financed by the U.S. Government and distributed at no cost. It was originally developed by the MOVES Institute at the Naval Postgraduate School.
