Chabot provides a varied, exciting curriculum including individual and group learning experiences in a supportive environment. Some of our basic academic curriculum is set by in reading, math, science and social studies. Like other Oakland public schools, Chabot uses the Open Court reading education program, that comprehensively covers phonemic awareness, phonetics, and word recognition through literature and coordinated exercises. Reading scores have improved dramatically since the Oakland Schools began using Open Court. Chabot uses the excellent FOSS (Full Option Science System) science program, developed by the Lawrence Hall of Science, which provides hands-on, collaborative learning experiences in the natural sciences. Chabot also participates in Lawrence Hall of Science
