Description
Our final speech of the night was by Maria, giving her first speech from the Entertaining Speaker Advanced Manual. In “Remembering Betty and Bud” Maria told us about the unusual life of her grandparents - a doctor and nurse couple who, having married after three weeks, were together for over 50 years. Maria reminisced about many of the wonderful memories she has of them - from the time they choose to live out of a Chevy Suburban to all the fun stuff she did with them (including gambling and smoking!!).
My manager said “You have a very mature view of leadership.” Little did he know that at Toastmasters this is what we do every week during our evaluation of speeches. We provide a supportive environment where people can overcome challenges in public speaking.
