Charles P. Johnson & Associates, Inc. (CPJ) is a full-service civil engineering firm that has provided quality land planning, civil and environmental engineering, and surveying services to the public and private sector since 1971. We continue to accommodate our clients’ needs with exceptional service by means of quality professional personnel, innovative approaches to problem solving, state-of-the-art technology and a commitment to excellence. We have expanded our planning, engineering, and surveying services in order to adapt in an evolving, demanding environment.

Public engineering represents one of the core services offered by CPJ. Our extensive expertise in engineering allows us to coordinate across multiple disciplines to produce innovative designs that exceed expectations for Municipal and County projects. Our vast history in working for public agencies has given us the experience to handle public outreach, limited budgets, and quick responses to public needs. In addition, our technical expertise allows us to confidently assess any situation and make a reliable recommendation for how to proceed.

CPJ is the local leader in providing inspection services to local jurisdictions to meet their National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System regulations. We pride ourselves on providing services to meet the needs of our clients. CPJ has a dedicated inspection staff of SWM inspectors on our team that are First Aid, CPR and Confined-Space trained. Additional, dedicated staff includes professional engineers, who provide quality control and project management, landscape architects, surveyors, database administrators and GIS Specialists.

The desired candidate shall possess a bachelor’s degree and a professional engineer’s license in the state of Maryland (or the ability to obtain a Maryland license within three (3) months of hire). A Master’s degree is not required but is considered a plus.

Charles P. Johnson & Associates serves all public agencies ranging from municipal and county governments, to state and federal agencies. We provide expertise in stream restoration, stormwater management inspections and design, road design, pedestrian safety improvements, stormwater management retrofits, and park design. We currently have several ID/IQ contracts with several different county and municipal agencies.
