Barton K. Hershfield, M.D., FACEP ( bart@checkchart.com ) Bart is a practicing emergency physician, and is also the Associate Director of his Emergency Department which is located in a community teaching hospital. He is a member of the Reimbursement Committee of national ACEP. In his state ACEP chapter, he chairs the Reimbursement and Practice Management Committee. He is the WV ACEP representative and co-chair of the Medicare Carrier Advisory Committee for West Virginia. A past President of WV ACEP, he chaired the Legislative Committee during the time that the chapter successfully worked to enact the Prudent Layperson standard into state law. He is a member of the WV ACEP Board of Directors, and represents WV on the ACEP Council. He was honored by WV ACEP with its "Free to Achieve" Award. Cathyann E. Wuebben ( cathyann@checkchart.com ) Cathyann has had a long and varied career in health care. She entered the field as an EMT, progressing to become a paramedic. In addition to working in the field, she worked in Occupational Medicine, working her way up to becoming the Medical Director for a large automotive plant. She then became a managing partner/owner of four Occupational Health/Urgent Care facilities. Along the way, she became certified in audiology, HAZMAT, and as a federal and state OSHA compliance auditor. A health and safety program that she wrote was used as a state guideline. She is also a former consultant for compliance with state and federal health and safety regulations. MEET OUR BUSINESS ASSOCIATES Physicians General Software, aka Wild Bill Software ( www.wildbillsoftware.com ), developed the software into which the CHECKCHART template system was incorporated. The result is electronic charting utilizing the Microsoft electronic ink on a tablet PC technology, as well as patient tracking and reporting. This surprisingly affordable application is perfectly suited to either hospital or office use. The ExitCare ( www.exitcare.com ) discharge instruction and prescription writing software is offered as an option with the electronic CHECKCHART system. ExitCare is also available as a stand alone system that can be used for those who choose paper documentation.
