Chelsea Wine & Storage is a family owned business, for a decade operated in affiliation with the retail wine store, Chelsea Wine Vault, which is located directly upstairs in the Chelsea Market. We focus on storing wine for private collectors as well as select restaurant and winery clients and do not offer broader logistical wine storage and delivery services so as to best focus on servicing our target client base more efficiently and effectively. CW&S is managed by Marc Hanes. Marc is a graduate of Columbia College and came within a chapter or two of completing a dissertation in Philosophy at Fordham University. He also worked in management consulting for over a decade. These are nice factoids but fancy degrees and the like have nothing to do with operating a wine storage facility. He can lift 40 pound cases of wine while twisting in very odd angles on the top step of a ladder. He doesn't wastefully use too much twine when breaking down boxes and throwing out used styrofoam. The UPS delivery guy has Marc's name memorized and CW&S gets some wine deliveries even when the company name isn't on the package. He likes power tools even though he can't hammer straight. He has worked on and off for multiple years in the wine industry as a freelance wine writer, retail salesperson and consultant to both professional retailers, importers and wine collectors.
