He is a member of 17 professional societies including the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Association for Hand Surgery, and American Medical Association. He has served as president of the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery as well as the Chicago Society for Surgery of the Hand. He has served on the Board of Director of the American Association for Hand Surgery. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons as well as of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is consulting hand surgeon to the Chicago Cubs. He has been selected as one of the best doctors in America and in Chicago for over 15 years.

Daniel J. Nagle MD was elected the 66th President of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH) on October 9, 2010. Doctor Nagle is the fourth member of Northwestern’s Chicago Hand School (now known as the Chicago Center for Surgery of the Hand) to become president of the ASSH. The ASSH was founded in 1946 and today has nearly 3,000 members. Its membership includes orthopaedic, plastic and general surgeons as well as various allied health care personnel. It is the oldest medical specialty society in the United States devoted to advancement of the science and practice of hand surgery through education, research and advocacy on behalf of patients and practitioners.
