Chief Oil & Gas is a privately held exploration and development company founded by Trevor Rees-Jones. Based in Dallas, Texas, with regional offices in Wexford and Williamsport, Pennsylvania, Chief operates primarily in the Marcellus Shale in northeastern Pennsylvania, but holds interests in oil & gas fields throughout the United States.

Chief Oil & Gas was founded in 1994 to focus primarily on developing reserves in the Bend Conglomerate area of North Texas.

Mr. Pfau joined Chief in January 2013 and has over 32 years of experience in generating and exploiting various plays around the globe. He has been immersed in the development and application of rock based technology to help unravel the latent potential of unconventional plays. Prior to Chief, Mr. Pfau served as Chief Geologist for Forest Oil generating unconventional plays and exploiting the Haynesville, Eagle Ford, Granite Wash, and Wolfcamp. He also worked for Apache in Egypt and at the same time helped establish Apache in shale gas plays in Northeast British Columbia.
