Dayton Children’s was built on the hopes and dreams of some very dedicated community leaders who wanted a children’s hospital in this region so children did not have to travel far for specialized health care. With this founding spirit, Dayton Children’s continues to deliver on its mission to improve the health status of all children regardless of the ability to pay.

Laurence Kleiner, MD , medical director of neurosurgery at Dayton Children’s, has continually demonstrated his passion for improving the well-being of children since joining the hospital in 2002. Dr. Kleiner cares for many of Dayton’s most critically-injured children who require brain surgery. He has tirelessly advocated for the child victims of abuse-related head injuries and also provides care for hematology/oncology patients with brain tumors, ensuring they receive the care they need.
