Description
Since 1990, the Chinati Foundation's Internship Program has provided hands-on museum experience to more than 150 students and recent graduates from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines. During extended stays at Chinati, interns are engaged directly in all aspects of the museum's daily activities, working closely with staff, resident artists, visiting scholars, architects, and museum professionals. Intern responsibilities include: giving tours of the collection to a diverse range of visitors, office administration, preparing exhibition spaces, buildings and grounds maintenance, archiving and research, and production assistance on museum publications. Typically internships last for 2 months. Chinati also offers internships with a focus on conservation. Conservation Intern responsibilities include: assisting the Conservator on treatments, condition assessments, environmental monitoring, art installation, report writing, and research. Conservation internships typically last 6-12 months. A minimum of 1 year experience in a conservation studio, preferably 2 - 3 years, is required to apply for a Conservation internship.
