Jack Chiorini started our firm in 1938 on Washington Street in downtown Santa Cruz. The firm went by the name J.L. Chiorini, P.A. Jack was a very dynamic and well-respected personality in the community. He served two terms as mayor of Santa Cruz, was on the founding board of Dominican Hospital, and was active in many other community affairs.In 1949 the firm moved to 155 Walnut Avenue, where it operated continuously for 56 years. Over the years, the firm grew along with the community and responded to the ever-changing needs of its clientele. Services offered included accounting and financial statement preparation, audits of small businesses and governmental units, and tax preparation and planning.In the 1980s and 1990s, our client base shifted from a retail and manufacturing orientation to a mixture of specialty retail, light manufacturing and professional services. Over the same period, the Santa Cruz area grew significantly more affluent. All the while, the emergence of the personal computer dramatically changed the day to day operations of small business. As the composition and needs of our clients changed, we adapted and expanded our services to meet those needs.
