Mar 01 2005 Kimberly Reed Veteran editor Walter Murch - the only person to win an Oscar for both sound mixing and film editing - delivered the DV Expo West 2004 keynote to a standing-room only crowd... ...Murch also showed a short film that came out of a CinemaSports filmmaking workshop, where particpants gather to make films in a few hours based on minimal guidelines. In general, Murch encouraged this sort of spontaneity in filmmaking, emphasizing the importance of creatively taking advantage of the happy accidents that happen in the real world of filmmaking instead of wishing for a perfect Hitchcockian shoot.
