"As a customer for over 35 years, we have always felt comfortable dealing with City Lumber Company for all of our building needs. As the lumber industry has changed, CLC has always kept up with changes. Competing against the Lowes and Home Depots of the world had to be tough, but they have always been able to retain our business. No matter how exotic of materials I am looking for, CLC has always come through for us. Customer service and loyal employees are very hard to find these days in general, but that is especially true when it comes to supply houses.

The mission of City Lumber Company is to provide our customers with high quality solutions for their building projects. These solutions must be delivered on time at a price that promotes both our customer’s and our own long term growth and profitability.

By 1906 controlling interest of the company had been purchased by Walter E. Fite a Jackson businessman. Mr. Fite passed away in 1915 and his son-in-law, Abner U Taylor, Jr. left his career in banking to take charge of the company in 1924. Abner U Taylor III joined the company in 1961 and has guided the company since his father’s death in 1974.

"Since 1985 my company has enjoyed a professional relationship with City Lumber Company. Their personnel have always displayed the upmost in professionalism and courtesy and have tried to save me money by using their purchasing power and influence in the marketplace. Their customer service goes way beyond the norm, i.e. they are always available for consultation with clients and my sub-contractors , which in turn makes the clients more willing to do continual business with me. I always welcome the opportunity of working with this fine company and highly recommend them.
