Clanton & Associates Inc.'s basic design philosophy is an integrated approach with all of the designers and owners. Through the use of an integrated analysis and design approach, the potential for equipment and energy savings in lighting is maximized. Our illumination engineering services provide a viable opportunity for owners to develop energy efficient projects, saving resources and money. Daylighting is an important feature of any lighting system and is incorporated into the firm's designs wherever possible. Proper glazing specifications and control strategies for dimming electric lighting when ample daylight is available are important features of the lighting system. The impact of the reduced lighting loads and reduced external heat gain through glazing can be analyzed as to the impact on the mechanical systems of the facility for even greater energy savings. The main focus of the design of a lighting system is to increase the visual comfort of the space. Clanton & Associates has found that by increasing the visual comfort of the space, energy savings are naturally accomplished. The firm believes that spaces should be considered individually as the orientation of furniture, reflectances of surfaces, tasks performed, and position within the envelope.
