Here are some of the ways Clearly LASIK gives back to the community. Old Glasses Give New Life! The Lions Club International Eyeglass Recycling Program helps to conserve sight by providing usable eyeglasses to children and adults throughout the world. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that 153 million people have uncorrected refractive errors (near-sightedness, far-sightedness and astigmatism). Refractive errors can be easily corrected with eyeglasses, yet millions in undeveloped nations lack access to basic eye care services. Donated eyeglasses can help millions to experience corrected vision for the first time, enabling them to read, attend school, gain employment and take care of their families. Mission teams deliver these unwanted glasses - free of charge - to people in need in developing countries. As a result, Clearly LASIK is proud to donate every pair of unwanted glasses to The Lions Recycle for Life since 2002. Veteran's Day 20 Surgery Giveaway In November 2007, Clearly LASIK gave all active and non-active military personnel the chance to see clearly – for FREE. Those serving in the military know how crucial and necessary it is to have quality vision. As a way of saying ‘thank you', our doctors and staff selflessly volunteered their time to support these special soldiers by giving them the freedom to do their job without the hassle of glasses or contacts. After receiving hundred's of entries, 20 lucky winners were randomly selected and underwent LASIK in our Renton, WA location. See how Clearly LASIK helped change the way Veteran's see life.
