Description

The thyroid gland is located in the center of your neck above your collar bones. It functions to regulate your metabolism. Your primary care provider is excellent at managing most problems related to your thyroid glands. It is not uncommon for people to develop nodules or lumps in their thyroid gland. Most of them are benign and not concerning. Simple needle aspiration, usually done in the office but sometimes with radiology assistance, can help us determine if the nodule is suspicious. If it is concerning, surgical removal (thyroidectomy) may be performed.
