Coffman Associates is specialized in environmental planning for airports. Our experience in this field is unmatched by any other firm in the United States, both in terms of quantity of approved environmental projects and the diversity of the environmental issues addressed. Coffman Associates has conducted hundreds of environmental studies throughout the country. While many of the projects have been complex and highly controversial, we have never failed to provide adequate justification and documentation on the project to obtain Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval. When warranted, we have successfully developed mitigation measures for potentially significant impacts, considering the effected agency's concerns, as well as those of the airport sponsor. With our considerable experience in environmental studies for airport improvement projects, our staff has a working knowledge of the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 and FAA guidance on compliance with this and other environmental laws, including FAA's National Environmental Policy (NEPA) Implementing Instructions for Airport Actions (Order 5050.4B) and FAA's Environmental Impacts: Policies and Procedures (Order 1050.1E). Since nearly all of our work has been completed for projects funded through the FAA grants, we have established working relationships with FAA planners, environmental review staff and the policies and procedures unique to the FAA. Our expertise also includes the specialized requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). Our firm has completed numerous Initial Studies and six Environmental Impact Reports for airports within California.
