Seven leading foodservice manufacturers (Kraft Foods, General Mills, Simplot, Pillsbury, Campbell Soup, Jimmy Dean, and Eskimo Pie) met in 1998 at a Cognitio-led symposium to create a best practices approach to new product development for the foodservice industry. They wanted to create a state-of-the-art process for evaluating new foodservice products, including a standardized screening methodology and a database of test results to help separate the winners from the losers.
