The College’s mission is to be the provider of choice for financial education by enabling student learning at a profit, and offering technologically advanced education programs and quality support services to working adults in the financial services industry. Our typical student will offer financial counseling and related services, or implement financial recommendations pertaining to Insurance, Investments, Tax, Retirement, and/or Estate planning. The College provides learning opportunities to people in all geographic areas through comprehensive programs of study that lead to licensing or certification through individual courses, graduate-level study, and continuing professional development. Learning methods include independent study, blended and mentored study, and classroom instruction, as well as seminars, workshops, and conferences. College History The College was founded in 1972 to formalize the financial planning profession via the CFP ® Certification, which is now the nation’s premier financial planning credential.

The College for Financial Planning was founded in 1972 to formalize standards for the practice of financial planning. The College created the CFP ® or CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Certification and continues to run the original and most successful CFP Certification Professional Education Program . In addition to our flagship CFP Certification Professional Education Program, the College is also home to a variety of industry benchmark designations that have benefited career-minded individuals in all facets of the financial services industry.

The College for Financial Planning is constantly working to deliver you the best value, and to provide you with the highest quality financial education while maintaining the credibility of our marks. To that end, the College is pleased to offer Professional Designation Challenge Examinations that allow graduates of our AAMS ® , APMA ® , AWMA ® , CMFC ® , CRPC ® and CRPS ® programs to test out of certain parts of the CFP ® Certification Professional Education Program.

The Series 63 is required by each state. The Series 63 authorizes holder to transact business within the state. All Series 6 and Series 7 holders must also carry the Series 63. This Series 63 exam consists of 60 multiple-choice questions and must be completed within 1 hour and 15 minutes. A score of 72% is required to pass the exam. The Series 6 qualifies the holder to sell “packaged” investment products such as mutual funds, closed end funds, UIT’s, and variable insurance. The Series 6 exam consists of 100 multiple-choice questions and must be completed within 2 hours and 15 minutes. A score of 70% is required to pass the exam.
