More than 125,000 Colorado men register for the draft for army service. Fitzsimmons General Hospital established near Denver. Coal production of state reaches new high of 12,500,000 tons. Impetus of war stirs development of mining of molybdenum at Climax, near Leadville - the nation's greatest source of the metal.

Audubon Society of Greater Denver is dedicated to maintaining the health of natural ecosystems through education, political action, scientific research, and land preservation. Primary focus is on birds, other wildlife, and ecosystems of the South Platte River watershed.

Originally from Wisconsin, Scott along with his wife Susan, live and work in Estes Park, Colorado. Presently Scott is implementing Birding Programs at both The YMCA Of The Rockies in Estes Park, and the Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch near Loveland, Colorado. He also works locally with Law Enforcement and Animal Control in the Recovery-Rehabilitation and Release of injured birds. Through Banding and Rehabilitation he has worked with birds as large as Eagles and as small as Hummingbirds. Scott is also an artist.
