Commins Manufacturing was founded in Friday Harbor, Washington in 1998 and has been manufacturing structural hardware since 2000. Al Commins, the principle designer, has been engineering, designing, testing and patenting structural products since 1971. From 1979 through 1997 Al managed Research and Development for Simpson Strong-Tie, and was responsible for developing and testing new products. Al has over 38 U.S and foreign patents to his credit. Commins Manufacturing prides itself on providing the building industry with the best performing holdown hardware in the industry, the AutoTight Rod Holdown System.
