Commonwealth Architects, a full service architectural and interior architecture firm located in Richmond, Virginia’s historic Shockoe Slip, commenced operations in 1999. The firm combines the professional experiences, and project history of our Principals Robert S. Mills, AIA, Dominic A. Venuto, CID, IIDA, Patricia Taylor, CID, Lee Shadbolt, AIA, Richard L. Ford, Jr., AIA, Thomas Heatwole, AIA, LEED AP, and Walter P. Redfearn.Based on the experience of our full-time staff of thirty-five professionals, Commonwealth Architects offers a full range of Architecture, Master Planning, Historic Architecture, Interior Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Planning, and Tenant services. Commonwealth Architects has undertaken a diversity of project types, ranging from the adaptive reuse of existing structures and new multi-family residential design to large-scale commercial facilities and new office buildings. Our Interior Architecture department has supplemented these architectural projects by performing state-of-the-art interior design and space planning within the walls of our beautifully designed structures. The diversity of our practice enables us to assemble project teams with the expertise required for each new project.
