“I Am a Part of Art” runs through August 23 and is made possible through the generosity of The Coolidge Hill Foundation, Beth Maher, Frames on Wheels, and Canyon Ranch, as well as individual CATA supporters. An award winning non-profit organization, CATA was founded in 1993 by Sandra Newman. Berkshire Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Based in Great Barrington, the award-winning non-profit was founded in 1993 by Sandra Newman to nurture and celebrate the creativity of people with disabilities through shared experiences in the visual and performing arts.

“Happiness 2.0” is just one of many events honoring CATA’s 20th anniversary. Sirois has been volunteering at CATA for over 13 years advocating for its mission of inclusion, joy and growth through participation in the arts. CATA provides arts workshops for nearly 600 individuals with disabilities in Berkshire County.

The Crane family’s philanthropic activities have included the founding of the Pittsfield Community Music School (now the Berkshire Music School) by Winnie Davis Long Crane in 1940. The Zenas Crane Fund for Student Aid was established in 1926 to help students from Dalton and surrounding towns achieve a college education. The fund continues to support students and is now administered by the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation.

Lane is also the brother of CATA’s Program & Artistic Director, Dawn Lane. That the two ended up in the field of disability is pure coincidence. Both are looking forward to the post-screening panel discussion moderated by John Whalan of Black Ice Entertainment, who is also CATA’s board president. Together, they have over forty years of experience in arts and accessibility.
