COMMUNITY INDEPENDENT SCHOOL is an innovative educational leader that believes children should be active participants in the process of learning. For over 14 years, the school has provided hands on, dynamic education to children in the formative years of preschool through 4th grade. Located in Chatham County, convenient to Chapel Hill and Pittsboro, North Carolina on six acres of wooded land. With a multi-ecosystem campus, organic gardens and farm animals, CIS places strong emphasis on teaching children in the out of doors. Students experience lessons in science, math, art, and more in nature. Reaching for the stars and a life-long love of learning, Community Independent School is moving through a strategic planning process leading toward future expansion. Community Independent School is now accepting preschoolers and students rising through 4th grade.
