Description
year, the Community Music Center of Boston (CMCB) is a product of two historic settlement schools that worked primarily with immigrant children - the Boston Music School Settlement and the South End Music School. The two organizations merged in 1968 and moved to our current location at the Boston Center for the Arts in 1990.Today, CMCB serves more than 5,000 individuals. Each week, about 600 students, ranging in age from five-months to 87, take instruction at the CMCB's home in the South End. Many more students are reached at sites throughout greater Boston - including public schools, hospitals, nursing homes and human service agencies.In order to serve a diverse cross-section of the community, CMCB grants approximately $100,000 in scholarships annually to approximately one-third of the in-house student body.
