Description

Community Union, Inc. (CU) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation, established in 1993 to curb the mounting atrocities occurring between Minority communities and Technology. As the new decade started, so did an opportunity for Latinos to set the stage for a level playing field, however report after report showed Latinos dead-last. Latinos weren't going to technology, so CU had to bring technology to them. CU initiated the first-ever technology conference conducted in a bi-lingual format, attracting LA Times and powerhouse politicians like Supervisor Gloria Molina, Los Angeles County. CU with the help of GTE and other corporate friends were able to expand their Technology Community Centers (TCC) into 9 cities within a 5-year period, serving over 11,000 participants who would not have otherwise had access to a computer after-school or work.
