Recognizing the need to focus on applications and product development specific to femoral hemostasis, the management at Semler Technologies created Advanced Vascular Dynamics (AVD) in 2000. AVD's lead product line, the CompressAR System, has been successfully used on millions of patients worldwide, making it the global leader in femoral hemostasis for over 25 years. Invented by Herbert J. Semler, MD, FACC, and formerly marketed by Instromedix , the CompressAR System was designed as a hands-free mechanical compression system and is used by clinicians to easily achieve post-catheterization femoral hemostasis.
