Description

In July of 1983, the PC market was so new that few companies and fewer individuals owned or operated personal computers. There were only 5 major vendors at the time, Apple, Compaq, Digital, IBM and Wang. Cloning of their technology had only just begun.Into this scenario stepped Boris Khutoretsky and Vincent Filingeri, the partners of Computer Services Group. Utilizing their education and skills, they established the new company dedicated to the repair of PC hardware. At the ground floor level, when only the vendors' technicians really knew what made a PC "tick", the partners quickly demonstrated an ability to identify and resolve problems for their clients. As the market grew, so did their skills and their client base. Authorized by most of the major manufacturers of PCs and peripheral equipment, by 1985 CSG employed 7 technicians to handle the in-house and field service repairs. Customized training courses were devised to assist clients in teaching their in-house technicians the fundamentals of PCs. Application training was added to the repertoire. Product and parts sales also became an integral part of the Computer Services Group offering.
