Commissioners are volunteers who represent various perspectives from our community. As an accrediting agency with a specialized area of programmatic review, COMTA has Commission positions dedicated to represent educators and practitioners who have direct experience in our scope of authority for accreditation of massage and esthetics schools and programs.

Prior to joining COMTA full-time in 2013, Angie Myer served the Commission as a curriculum consultant and peer reviewer for 3 years. However, she has been involved with massage education and COMTA accreditation since 2002, and has been an educator or post-secondary administrator for over 22 years. She worked on COMTA accreditation in her roles as Director of Operations for the International School of Professional Bodywork (IPSB) and Dean of Education at Mueller College of Holistic Studies.

In 1982, the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) Council of Schools (COS) was established, in recognition of a shared concern among educators and school executive directors for the quality of massage therapy education. Early Council work focused on the need to develop and maintain educational standards. In 1989, the Commission on Massage Training Approval/Accreditation (COMTAA) was established.

(Administrator) - Term ends 2016 A 1996 graduate of the Cayce/Reilly ® School of Massotherapy, Dawn has been in the healing arts profession for over 17 years. She currently serves as the School Director for the Cacyce/Reilly School where she oversees all day-to-day operations, activities and staff supervision. Dawn has also been an instructor in Professional Ethics courses for the past 13 years, educating massage therapy students and practitioners about ethical practice management and the unique dynamics of the therapeutic relationship.
