Fewer Fuel Emissions – Concrete raising jobs are generally finished in a matter of hours, not days. The result is fewer emissions from trucks going to and from the jobsite. In addition, concrete raising does not require break-out, transport of broken out concrete, stone placement, compaction via ancillary equipment, or ready-mix truck delivery. Less Air Particulates – Concrete raising requires less saw cutting and zero concrete breaking (only small injection holes are drilled, and the drill dust can be captured if needed), which results if fewer dust particles released into the air. Less Landfill – Concrete that is broken out and replaced is generally taken to a plant for recycling (again fuel emissions, particulates, and energy) or to a landfill for disposal (valuable space which could be better used). Concrete can even be classified as a hazardous material under certain circumstances. Its porous nature can trap chemicals, which could leach out in a landfill. Given these facts keeping the existing concrete in place just makes sense. Less Cement Consumption – Our grout generally utilizes a 3.5 bag mix. New concrete, by comparison, is usually poured using a 5 to 7 bag mix. Global cement production accounts for approximately 5% of the CO2 emitted annually1.
