Founded in 1789, Georgetown University, the oldest Catholic university in the United States, is a highly-selective institution. Of the total enrollment of approximately 15,000 students, about half are undergraduates. With its diverse student body and distinguished faculty, Georgetown is one of the most dynamic universities in the country.

Founded in 1950, Marymount University is a private, independent, coeducational university related to the Catholic Church. Marymount enrolls approximately 2,100 undergraduate and 1,600 graduate students representing 37 states and numerous foreign countries. Marymount offers 37 undergraduate majors and 24 graduate degree programs.

University of Maryland, College Park, founded in 1807, and designated a land-grant institution in 1862, is the flagship of the University of Maryland System. Its 13 colleges and schools serve more than 33,000 students. Students and faculty are drawn from all 50 states and 146 countries. The University is one of the top-funded universities by the National Science Foundation.

The Consortium is a tax-exempt, nonprofit organization governed by the officers and representatives of the participating universities and colleges.

Howard University is one of 48 U.S. private, Doctoral/Research-Extensive universities and comprises 12 schools and colleges. Founded in 1867, students pursue studies in more than 120 areas leading to undergraduate, graduate, and professional degrees. Since 1998, the University has produced two Rhodes Scholars, a Truman Scholar, 19 Fulbright Scholars, and ten Pickering Fellows. Howard also produces more on-campus African-American Ph.D.'s than any other university in the world.
