Over the last 3 years the Ports of Los Angeles & Long Beach have instituted regulations, in response to environmental pressures, which have and will continue to change the way business is conducted in the ports of Southern California. While portions of the "Clean Truck Program" are currently being litigated, the associated fee structure is scheduled to go into effect on February 18th, 2009. In order to stay competitive under the ports program, a substantial investment was needed in new equipment. Along with this was a decision to either move to an employee model or continue with the Contractor model. In April of 2008 ContainerFreight/EIT, LLC, made a formal decision to continue operating in the Drayage industry under the Contractor model.
