THE MISSION OF COOPER FELLOWSHIP. Helping others recover from substance abuse is a complex and challenging effort. For almost 25 years, Cooper Fellowship has been a vital resource in that effort. From a single house with six residents in 1977, Cooper has grown in size and sophistication to become Orange County's largest comprehensive residential substance abuse recovery provider. In addition to its State Licensed and Certified 71 bed Primary Residential Program in Santa Ana, Cooper Fellowship operates top rated Sober Living facilities for over 130 program graduates in Fullerton, Garden Grove, and Santa Ana as part of its aftercare component. THE CURRICULUM. The program architecture is "Mixed Model," i.e., traditional Social Model Twelve Step Program with Clinical augmentations. C.A.S. trained and certified staff work with residents in both group and individual settings in the Twelve Step aspect. Graduate Interns in university Masters and Doctoral programs, under the supervision of Art Holden PhD, conduct the Clinical aspect, which adheres to the protocols of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Addiction. (Virtually all current professional literature demonstrates the superior efficacy of the mixed model architecture over either strictly 12 Step or strictly Clinical approaches.)
